Avenue of Pines Scenic Byway

Overview

This route cuts diagonally through the Chippewa National Forest from Highway 2 to Northhome. Open and expansive views of Lake Winnibigoshish, the state’s fifth largest lake, and other smaller lakes and marsh areas are surrounded by stands of mature red pines and aspens. Bald eagles, white-tailed deer, black bear, porcupine, and osprey are often seen along the route. Trails to hike, bike, ride ATVs, and snowmobile offer recreational opportunities. There are many restaurants, gas stations, shopping and lodging amenities to enjoy as well.
