Cowpens Battlefield Scenic Byway

Overview

This route runs from the Town of Cowpens and connects to the Cherokee Foothills National Scenic Byway. The drive has unique agricultural vistas and takes you to the Cowpens National Battlefield. View the site of the 1781 Battle of Cowpens, which was the turning point for the Continental Army during the Southern Campaign of the Revolutionary War. Here you can learn about how General Daniel Morgan and his Patriots turned the flanks of the hated Banastre Tarleton's British army, using the only successful Double Envelopment military tactic made during the War.
