It is a route that explores the deep roots of Appalachian heritage and offers opportunities to be immersed in the local culture. As visitors meander through the quite valleys of the mighty mountains in search of the Roan highlands, they will discover small farms, churches, and towns that offer opportunities to learn the art of local crafts such as pottery, weaving, and glass blowing. Along the way, keep an eye out for the many Christmas tree farms scattered throughout the hills.
