Historic Effingham-Ebenezer Scenic Byway

Overview

Visitors to this byway will travel through the communities of Ebenezer, Guyton, Springfield, and Rincon and revel in the history of one of Georgia’s eight original counties and of Ebenezer, founded by German Lutherans seeking religious freedom. Travelers can recreate George Washington’s Southern tour of 1791, visit sites of taverns dating back to the American Revolution, observe ferries along the Savannah River, follow General Sherman’s March to the Sea route, and enjoy the University of Georgia’s Forest Education Center.
