Horses and Hounds

Overview

Travelers can almost hear the bugles sounding and the horses and hounds chasing fox as they have since Colonial Times on the area’s rolling, grassy hills. The route from Hunt Valley to Towson is a single lane road with few traffic lights. Stop near Cockeysville at the Oregon Ridge Nature Center and Park and at the Center for Maryland Agriculture and Farm Park for demonstrations of agriculture and equine activities. In Monkton, enjoy the Ladew Topiary Gardens and its 15 garden “rooms.” Allow time for a stop at Pretty Boy Reservoir for fishing and hiking trails.
