Overview

Explore over 30 miles of byway along State Route 39 between Loudonville and Mansfield and State Route 603 between the Village of Mifflin and Malabar Farm celebrating the life of  John "Appleseed" Chapman, legendary orchardist and nurseryman. Chapman, aka Johnny Appleseed, was famous for planting apple orchards bearing fruit used in the making of hard cider. But John Chapman's greatest contribution to the American apple orchards was planting seeds rather than grafting trees. Historic sites along this byway include Chapman's original landholdings and nurseries as well as original sites of Native American culture and pioneer settlements.
