Overview

This byway is a single-lane gravel road with pullouts. The remote route showcases the area where Lewis and Clark began their exploration of the Northwest. Much of the forests and meadows look just as the explorers found it in 1905. Begin this byway 20 miles southeast of Salmon, just off Idaho 28. Then turn east at the Tendoy store. The byway is a loop Travel is not recommended for RVs, buses, and trailers on sections of the byway.
