Mathis Ferry Road Scenic Byway

Overview

The area around Mathis Ferry Road has seen significant residentail development, but it is an attractive alternative to driving the commercial US 17 to get around the growing Town of Mount Pleasant. You can easily access Patriots Point on the Charleston Harbor from this Byway. The Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum is the home of the WWII aircraft carrier, the USS Yorktown, along with a fleet of National Historic Landmark ships, the Cold War Museum and the only Vietnam Experience Exhibit in the US.
