Mountain Gateway Scenic Byway

Overview

This route winds through the forested valleys of the Ouachita Mountain and the Winding Stair Mountain National Recreational Area in southeast Oklahoma. Wildflowers abound in the spring. Summer brings recreational opportunities for hikers, backpackers, and horseback riders. Autumn puts on a colorful show along this two-lane paved road with some steep grades and sharp curves.
