Quebradas Back Country Byway

Overview

This unpaved road travels through arroyos, or breaks, that offers intimate views of New Mexico’s geologic past with its rainbow-hued ridges, deep jagged canyons, and wind-whipped dunes. The Sevilleta and Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuges are on each end of the byway. The Ladd S. Gordon Waterfowl Complex, in the Quebradas area, offers glimpses of desert wildlife and opportunities for photography, rock hounding, hiking, wildlife watching, hunting, and backcountry vehicle touring.
