Overview
Follow Oak Creek from Sedona to Oak Creek Canyon on Highway 89A. Visit the Sedona Heritage Museum and Downtown Sedona and enjoy the restaurant, coffee shops, and historic buildings. Sedona is known for its futuristic spiritual healing areas known as vortexes. Along the route, stop at Grasshopper Point for swimming or picnicking at the large cliff side swimming hole. Enjoy the red rock vistas in the Red Rock/Secret Mountain Wilderness. Cool off at Slide Rock State Park, a historic apple farm with a unique irrigation system and slide down an 80-foot slippery chute into Oak Creek created by algae on sandstone. The Oak Creek Vista in the Coconino Forest offers the traveler panoramic views of the canyon, colorful rocks, and unique formations.
