Overview

This 19-mile scenic byway collows Spearfish Creek as it carves its way through the limestone walls of Spearfish Canyon. Famed by spruce, pine, aspen, birch and oak trees that climb the cliff walls, the route makes one of the most perfect fall drives in North America. Opportunities abound for outstanding hikes, trout-filled pools, hidden swimming holes, popular climbing spots, and breathtaking waterfalls.
