Stone Valley Byway

Overview

The Stone Valley Byway is named for the area’s most notable marble and slate quarries and mills. Winding through pasture lands, the byway is framed by mountains and lakes. Travelers will enjoy picnicking, swimming, boating, camping, fishing, hiking, Nordic Skiing, golfing, and wildlife-viewing. State parks, marshes, conservation areas, forests and wildlife management areas provide opportunities for nature enthusiasts. The area is also rich in historical sites such as a Revolutionary War battlefield historic site and many museums. Local artists showcase their talents in local installations and at farmers markets alongside fresh and locally grown produce from the many farms in the valley.
