Warren County-Piedmont Scenic Byway

Overview

This byway is a continuation of the Historic Piedmont Scenic Byway located in Putnam and Hancock Counties. Once a part of the old Native American Okfusekee Trail, it connected what is now Augusta with the Mississippi River. The rolling hills frame the route as it travels past farmlands, rivers, and a wildlife area. The cities of Jewell and Warrenton are both listed as districts in the National Register of Historic Places. The Tour de Georgia race featured the route twice. Besides cycling, there are opportunities for golfing, boating, fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, and enjoying equine activities.
