West-Northwest Scenic Byway

Overview

This byway is comprised of interconnected highways 71, I-540, 10 ,23, and 96 and much of it lies within the Ouachita National Forest. The terrain is less rugged than the Ozark Mountains, so crossing the only mountains in North America that are oriented east-west the early settlers found this route more hospitable. Visit the many museums, historical sites, and small towns in the area.
