Overview
Travel through scenic white pine forests in the Northern Idaho Panhandle. Outside Coeur d’Alene, high atop a hill, is the Mission of the Sacred Heart. Explore the mission, cemetery, and parish house. Nearby is the Trail of the Coeur d’Alene. Hike all the trail’s 73 miles as it covers the entire panhandle or just do a section. It is known as one of the most beautiful trails in the state, it offers opportunities to bike, walk, skate, or run. At Marble Creek learn about the area’s logging history and the 1910 Great Fire that burned 3 million acres in Idaho. Montana, and beyond. It affected wildfire management forever. See the memorials for firefighters or hike the Pulaski Trail, named for a firefighter who sheltered his men in a small mine shaft while the fire raged around them.
