According to the Colorado Dept. of Transportation, the South Platte River Trail Scenic and Historic Byway begins at the Colorado Welcome Center in Julesburg. The 19-mile loop traces the river between Ovid and Julesburg, offering historical insights along the way.

Colorado Welcome Center at Julesburg
Located at the beginning of the South Platte River Trail, a Colorado Scenic and Historic Byway. You will find complimentary maps, coffee, and friendly volunteers to help with your travel plans. There are more than 350 brochures to choose from. Picnic sites, walking paths, restrooms, a pet area, and a play area for children are available.

Fort Sedgwick Musuem and Depot Museum
Honors the history of Fort Sedgwick and Sedgwick County by displaying artifacts and memorabilia from the Union Pacific Railroad, Pony Express, Native Americans and early pioneers.

Jumbo (Julesburg) Reservoir State Wildlife Area
The Reservoir is a 1578-acre body of water located within the Jumbo State Wildlife Area. Excellent fishing opportunities to catch walleye and crappie, as well as bluegill and channel catfish.
