Bright, Broad Ribbons Across the Nation: Celebrating the U.S. Numbered Highway System’s 100th Birthday
Join Bob Cullen, AASHTO Historian and Sharon Strouse, NSBA Executive Director for a fun, factual and unforgetable conversation about how the US Route System began.

On November 11, 1926, the American Association of State Highway Officials (AASHO)* took time during its annual meeting to approve a comprehensive plan for a new nationwide highway network. Less than two months later, the U.S. Bureau of Public Roads formally adopted AASHO’s plan and publicly announced the numbers and locations for the routes within the U.S. Numbered Highway System. A century later, this webinar will focus on that system’s life and legacy and why those highways still matter today.
*AASHO is now AASHTO
Webinar presenter Bob Cullen, AASHTO’s historian.
