The Appalachian Byway of Ohio follows State Route 78 for 105 miles, starting in Clarington (Monroe County) near the Ohio River and passing through Noble County and Morgan County before ending in Nelsonville (Athens County).

Optional detours take you to The Wilds via State Routes 83 and 284. The byway also connects with the Ohio River Scenic Byway at Hannibal Locks and Dam.

From Columbus, OH: Approximately 61 miles southeast

From Cincinnati, OH: About 169 miles east
