The dramatic, unobstructed view of the Missouri River from the Lewis and Clark Visitor Center, appears as it did when Lewis and Clark passed through on their way to the West coast over 200 years ago. At the center, you can walk in the footsteps of these famous explorers on the wooded bluffs and through grassland prairies, learn about the 122 new animals and 178 new plants they discovered along the way, marvel at the scientific discoveries they recorded, and climb aboard a full-sized replica of the keelboat that took them down river. Be sure to watch the 30-minute video of their epic journey. The theme of this museum is particularly exciting and unique because no other museum or interpretive center in the nation, existing or planned, focuses on the captains’ amazing scientific discoveries.
