If you like landscapes featuring beautiful bodies of water, the Minnesota Marine Art Museum, on the Great River Road in Minnesota is unique among museums. It is home to a large collection of historical works by American artists including Hudson River School painters Thomas Cole, Asher B. Durance and Frederic Church. Other American paintings feature the work of Georgia O’Keefe, Mary Cassatt, John James Audubon and Edward Hopper. One of the most recognized paintings in America, the iconic Washington Crossing the Delaware, also hangs in the museum. The Minnesota Marine Art Museum also contains a diverse collection of European painters, early 17th century Dutch art, English Romantic J.M.W. Turner, Pablo Picasso. Claude Monet, Pierre Renoir and Edgar Degas.
