Experience clear night skies at 10,000 feet above sea level at Cedar Breaks National Monument, on Utah’s Patchwork Parkway. When night falls in Cedar Breaks, a designated International Dark Sky Park, the sky transforms from a place of darkness to a place of wonder, with objects in space in clear view. During the day, this same landscape surrounding the half mile deep naturally created amphitheater is surrounded by lush wildflower meadows, timeless bristlecone pines, and the rich, dense subalpine forest. The amazing geologic art is limestone that was uplifted millions of years ago, and eroded over the centuries into hoodoos, arches, fins, and canyons. The brilliant reds, yellows and purples in the rock formations come from iron and manganese touched by the sun.
